Between this game and dragonball z sparking! meteor...I like this one just a little more. That is me, personally.
Massive character roster, fantastic cel shaded graphics, and a very good story mode.
I didn't like the first sparking game's gameplay...but this sparking neo game vastly improves over its predecessor. It eliminated all of the first game's faults and improved upon that first game's achievements, and what the developers ended up with was a near perfect fighting game. Which is exactly what it is.
Why get this japan only game over the american released version you ask? That is a simple question to answer in just two words.
Its MUSIC.
The ORIGINAL music of the Dragonball Z anime can only be found and heard in this japenese version.
That means you can fight those epic dbz battles with songs like "saiyajin kitaru, akuma no broli, and yattekita songokuu" blasting away through your speakers, getting your blood pumped.
That great music, by that genius composer named Shunsuke Kikuchi, who also composed many other themes of many great tv shows aside from his best known work for the dragonball z anime,...that great music is worth importing this classic game from japan.
The dragonball z tenkaichi series(the american version), has forgettable, terrible music that is NOT this game's memorable and heart gripping music that is taken DIRECTLY from the anime tv show.
The only thing better than the animation for dragonball...is its music. Shunsuke Kikuchi's music.
