  1. Rev12-3-10#1

Posted by Jacob H. on 4th Dec 2010

A cast that you care about is something every fighter needs. Whereas some games have useless, forgettable characters , every single character here is worth playing as, even the new characters

The selection they chose is quite nice, as well, including the company's go-to mainstays such as Terry, Geese, Iori, Kyo, and K', some of the lesser-known (to the casual crowd, at least) like Kaede, Moriya, Hanzo, and Fuuma, and even the downright obscure, like Kisarah (from Aggressors of Dark Kombat), Shishioh/King Lion (Savage Reign/Kizuna Encounter), and Cyber Woo (King of the Monsters). SNK knows how to please their fans, hardcore or otherwise.

Button mashing gets you nowhere here, except for an early grave. Instead, as in most SNK fighters, skill and patience is rewarded. The oft-talked about Double Assault feature plays three roles when it connects: one, it inflicts damage (altough very minor). Two, it lowers the amount of health the victim will recover when they are resting, and three, it puts your partner into "Hyper Charge" mode, meaning that they gain an effect similar to, but to a lesser extent than, Rage Explosion (increased damage) for ten seconds (or until they switch back out). There are special D-Assaults (mostly for characters from the same series, such as Hanzo/Fuuma or Kaede/Moriya) that only can occur under special circumstances (ten seconds after a certain move hits, for example), but they are more of a chore to execute than it sounds.

  2. All I need...is K and Rock!

Graphics-on the level of king of fighters 11, for the sprites of the characters. Many of the characters are animated beautifully, some, not so much so. The backgrounds are gorgeous! Some of the best backgrounds you'll ever see in a 2D game.

Music is-good. What you expect from SNK.

    Story-not much of one.
Not many modes to choose from.

Gameplay-it is most like in feel to the king of fighters series...which is a good thing. But not an exact copy of KOF. Evasive rolls are here, but super meter is deducted for using evasions.
2 vs 2 fighting, but tagging in and out is instantaneous, unlike in KOF where there is a small time delay.

Close to 40 characters to choose from. They are mostly pulled from other SNK/ neo geo franchises.
The list of games these characters are drawn from are listed as follows-
    the king of fighters
    fatal fury
    art of fighting
    samurai spirits
    last blade
    world heroes
    aggressors of dark kombat
    king of monsters 2
    metal slug series
    athena
    kizuna encounter

with a few characters made strictly for this game including Yuki, Ai, and Goodman.

All of the characters are interesting and distinctive. Yuki is my favorite character in the game, because he is way cool.

I got this game because I wanted a game that had two of my favorite SNK characters in one game, K from the KOF series, and rock howard from mark of the wolves and capcom vs snk 2,...in one single game.
    And this is the game!
    Love this game!
It's not perfect, but it is still great.

    The game is highly underrated.
